  • Alexey Alpatov  (+)

Biography : Alexey Alpatov was born in 1968 in Moscow. He didn’t get professional artistic education, trained painting by himself. Nature and the city are the main characters in Alexey Alpatov’s paintings, thus is why his favorite genre is the landscape. Despite the fact that the works usually have the features of monochrome cold colors, this beautiful palette, filled the inner glow, forming his unique style. A separate chapter of Alexey Alpatov’s artworks goes with the sea theme, which the artist depicts in various states – from a serene calmness with moored boats on the coast to a night hurricane in the middle of the ocean. Since 1990 the artist actively participates at art fairs in Russia and abroad: Art Stage Singapore, Scope Miami, Context Art New York, Art China, Art Moscow etc. At the moment, Alexey Alpatov lives and works in Moscow.

Detailed Description : We perceive contemporary reality as a moveable, flexible space in which the past, present and future simultaneously exist and mix. We are interested in a process, which excites us with its unpredictability, in which a person simultaneously takes the role of the creator and the laboratory mouse. Creativity becomes a game in which each next step brings us closer to the limits of conventional everyday life. We lived in one of the residential districts of Moscow, among the lifeless scenery of paneled high-rise buildings, where you can quite acutely feel as if you're located in a vacuum. The surrounding emptiness was the catalyst for creating our own mythology of the place that filled its dead shell and turned that gray everyday life into an incredible, mysterious and exciting adventure. This discovery was the starting point that influenced not only our perception of a particular place, but also the whole feeling of the world, which turned into a huge artificial forest, a new home for the "digital native". We are interested in the extent to which the technological world invades the inner world of man. What changes are happening, what we are sacrificing, and what we get in exchange. By plunging into our half-real, half-fictional space, we help its inhabitants materialise and find their place here. At some point we ourselves become them and are given a clue for the next step.

  • Maxim Bashev  (+)

Biography : Born in 1961 in Moscow. Graduated from the Moscow Art School N.1. Since 1986 has participated in exhibitions, notably in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, USA. His works are in the private collections in Russia, USA, Germany. Lives and works in Moscow. Max Bashev’s works can be viewed as a form of neo-Dadaist practice. He has been inspired by Basquiat, Kieth Haring, and the entire underground protest culture they embody. This culture reflects an aesthetic terror towards the society that wants to sleep and see the dreams, wants an everyday uneventfulness of routine life rather than stirring images reminding them of real problems. A similar vibe is projected by Bashev in his works. His painting style gravitates towards 1980’s New York, when underground art in unconventional spaces swept through SoHo and became the subject of actual theoretical reflection. This brutal painting practice, which does not differentiate between a canvas and a wall and destroys the boundaries of genres, won some time for it se lf before getting crushed by the market and criticism. Moments of Max Bashev’s ethnic styles bridge modernity with history and mythology as it also takes place in urban subcultures. Bashev incorporates historic images into modern contexts and blends modern visuals with mythological stories. Time is endured as a historic singularity. Such endurance of time mobilizes the European self-consciousness and turns neo-Expressionism into a transnational artistic trend followed by Bashev and other gallery artists. Bacon’s influence, articulated by Bashev, becomes apparent in his way of composing a painting; this type of composition has nothing to do with the actual drawing. Such a painting is a registry of bodily experience of an artist. Gilles Deleuze viewed Bacon’s creativity as a freedom from functional structures and cognitive existence, a freedom through the practice of which an ecstasy becomes painting. Such discussions are applicable to an artist for whom negativity

Detailed Description : Artist Vladimir Semenskiy does large canvas paintings, showing reality as a random sum of spontaneous personal movements. Painting itself is formed of spontaneous bodily movements and presents them as the closest reality and simultaneously the closest secret of which they are born. His painting is corporeal and speaks of the body, which is put together from unpredictable inner movements. It is distinguished by chaotic frankness and eurythmy. It is both intimate and eccentric. It grows out of a runaway and intuitive spirit and speaks of freedom as an indispensable prerequisite for the emergence of man.
