Jaelius Aguirre

Madrid, 1956

Degree in Law by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1979), and, while working some years in private companies, starts his career in the art world, creating the musical group Bajas Pasiones along the Movida Madrileña years, publishing songs and records and performing live in the spanish circuit.

In the 80´s works in the moving image industry producing many spot for advertising agencies and directing some musical and artistic videos.
From 1989 on to now, concentrates on visual arts, working simultaneously both as an artist and as a curator for arts shows. As an artist, studies in The Art Student´s League in New York (1989-1992) obtaining a scholarship as engraver as well as the 1991 annual prize in painting.

Since then he has held over 25 solo exhibitions of his paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures, and many more group shows both in New York and Spain. Has produced over 180 editions of both prints and serial sculptures, many for private and public institutions, as well as self-editions. He has also as participated in more than 30 international contemporary art fairs in Europe as well as other Art exhibitions and Biennales in Asia (South Korea) and Panamá.

He has pieces distributed among several public and private collections including the Hispanic Society of New York.
