Detailed Description : FAILE, the street art duo comprised of Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller (American, b.1975; b.1976), formed their Brooklyn-based multimedia collaborative in 1999. They have conjured a wide array of works over the years, using original iconography and appropriating images from mass media, such as kissing women, Popeye, and old-time boxers. FAILE began covering building exteriors with pioneering techniques in wheat pasting and stencilling, before expanding their repertoire to paintings, collage, prints, and sculpture. These elements converge in immersive installations in which FAILE creates total self-manufactured spaces.

  • Ron English  (+)

Biography : Known as the “Godfather of Street Art”, Ron English is a contemporary pop artist who explores popular brand imagery and advertising. English has bombed the global landscape with unforgettable images, on the street, in museums, in movies, books, and on television. English coined the term POPaganda to describe his signature mash-up of high and lowbrow cultural touchstones, from superhero mythology to totems of art history, populated with his vast and constantly growing arsenal of original characters. These include MC Supersized, the obese fast-food mascot featured in the hit movie “Supersize Me,” and Abraham Obama, the fusion of America’s 16th and 44th Presidents, an image widely discussed in the media as directly impacting the 2008 election. Other characters carousing through English’s art, in paintings, billboards, and sculpture include three-eyed rabbits, udderly delicious cowgirls, and grinning skulls, blending stunning visuals with the bitingly humorous undertones of America’s Premier Pop Iconoclast. Ron English’s gallery exhibitions include Lazarides (London), Yves Laroche (Montreal), Jonathen Levine Gallery (New York), Corey Helford (Los Angeles), and many more. In 2007 Ron painted the West Wall in Palestine & has continued to paint important murals globally, including the Bowery Wall in New York City, the Wynwood District of Miami, and recently used his “Temper Tupac” character for a mural in Los Angeles. Ron has published 7 books of his work & is included in several important collections, notably the Whitney Museum in New York City and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Paris.
