Detailed Description : Soot, acrilyc case 50x80x100 cm Isabel Alonso Vega uses the smoke as a resource in her research of fear. In her works fear is presented as a huge and dreadful smoke cloud that only exist in our minds and dissolve when touched. That is why she started experimenting with soot, the black trace of fire. Soot looks intensly black but at the same time it is almost immaterial and very fragile. She creates big clouds of smoke by superiposing transparent layers stained with soot, which have to be kept in acrylic cases due to the fragility of the material. Like a taxidermist, Isabel assembles fear as a hunting trophy.

  • Vera Edwards  (+)

Biography : Vera Edwards Vera Edwards, born in San Francisco, California 1988, has grown up in Mallorca, she graduated from Fine Art school in Falmouth, England in 2010. After a few years living in California, she is currently back in Mallorca, where she creates her work in an idyllic countryside finca. She is inspired by her own life experiences, and travels. In her latest works she has also dived deep into her memories of the endless summers in Mallorca. Portraying figures and groups of people not completely identified in beach settings. People we can all relate to, we have all posed in a family photo, in a school pictures, and it brings back a nostalgic moment of a different time when things were more simple. There has also been a ‘Change of Perspective’ in life. It shows in her work, she expresses the human connection, the vulnerability and the power it creates. It is through vulnerability that we create this human connection. “I paint what I see in the world around me, its comforting to know I can put paint on a canvas and apart of the subject the paint itself will be protagonist, its the texture and the brushstrokes that give the feeling to the painting. I paint from images that I take or that i find, that evoke a feeling, a memory or a moment in my current life. The island life is a big influence on my work. And the eternal pleasure of a moment of peace in the sun. The longing for a simpler time. La dolce far niente. The sweetness of doing nothing. This is what I would like to transmit.” She has participated in several Group Exhibitions such as: FLECHA 2018 (Madrid, Pama and Bilbao) being awarded with the FLECHAZO award in 2018, Stone Soup (Rag Factory, London), The Summer Show 2017 (Falmouth, Cornwall), Nevertheless Trevathan Terrace (Falmouth, Cornwall), Humanimation, Babahog Gallery (Falmouth, Cornwall)

Detailed Description : ABOUT THE ARTIST LUIS GOMEZ MACPHERSON is a distinguished artist from the South of Spain, who currently lives and works in Cádiz in Andalucía. He was a student under important representatives of Spanish art, such as Antonio Saura and the hyper realistic painter Antonio Lopez, who strongly influenced his artwork and style. His work portrays in great detail everyday objects and spaces forgotten in time in a photorealistic style. In absence of a human figure, his paintings seek to abstract the functionality of the object, creating a diffuse aura of mystery in order to provoke questions in the viewer. Luis’ artworks show the artist's great technical skill when handling pictorial resources. The simplicity of his art surprises and catches the eye of anyone who looks at his paintings. IN MY OWN WORDS “I have always liked drawing and painting, since I can remember. In the beginning, I paid more attention to topics than shapes. I worried about if this or that looked good on canvas. When I studied in the University of Fine Arts of Seville and took several other painting courses, teachers helped me to learn and work with disciplines I didn’t know. But when I found oil painting, it finally allowed me to find my inner voice. It is precisely this technique, the one that allows me to draw insignificant objects, discover their own plasticity and turn them into an integral part of my artwork .It is partly intuition and partly contemplation the elements that guides the creation of the painting. I'm interested in the creative act itself. Apart from fashion and trends, I like to paint.”
