About

Founded in 2012 with support of Changwon city, Space 1326 has been presenting emerging talented artists both in the regional and international art markets. The gallery collaborates and cooperates with numerous young artists including seven major artists and thirty artists nationwide.

Space 1326 has been committed to introducing Korean modern art to international audience through participating in multiple international art fairs. The gallery has represented Korean artists’ current work across all media at international art fairs held in Hong Kong, Amsterdam, and Hamburg.

The program continues to expand on presentation of growing Korean artists in worldwide art world. Also, the gallery endeavors to serve as platform for interaction between original artists and audience.

And in 2019 we opened a space named "A Bunker" in Seoul. Through this space, we are able to expand the art market in Korea and the art market in the world

Detailed Description : Jang Chigil’s early works were mainly abstract. Continuous contemplation of theme of his work gradually resulted in introspection of himself and return to home. He returned to his home, Tong-Yeong in thirty years. The artist explores his identity, examining landscape of hometown and understanding Korean folklore and shamanism at large. His research reveals commonality shared by Korean conventional ideology and counterparts of other culture. His oeuvre transcends the regional boundary of the hometown and Korea develops into understanding nature’s law, universal principle and cycle of life. His search began in seeking his identity but reaches outwards universally to general viewers from various nation, race, and culture.

Detailed Description : ' Loneliness' is not a strange state (feeling). It is a common and normal feeling much like human instinct and desire. Once you accept it, you will enjoy it more than anything and you will face overwhelming happiness, called " solitude." At that moment, whether you are rich or poor or alone... you will feel happiness and joy. Therefore, you can enjoy solitude and need not hide from others or yourself. Then, you will understand your true identity. I do have endless something in my deep inner part of me. I peeped into my soul in the deep inner part of me. Then... There was a moment of loneliness of happy blessing swallowing tears in my soul. The moment of blessed moment... I feel that my soul breathing inside me.

Detailed Description : “The artist wishes for good fortune through brushstrokes as if carrying out a ritual. Then, the viewer interprets the work based on one’s desire for luck,” says the artist. Kim Minsu obsessively employs the color red in his work. Red is generally the color of warmth, life, and passion, but also, traditionally the color that drives away the evil spirits. On top of red background, the traditional symbols of affluent life - a peony that represents success, a mandarin duck for a happy marriage, a frog for wealth, and a dragon that signifies absolute power - are depicted. The motif of fortune expands to modern popular culture, featuring hero characters as well. The aspiration for wealth and fortune is embodied in straightforward visual language that spans both conventional and modern figuratives. Kim’s work explores individuals’ desire for happiness, luck, and prosperity in contemporary life.

Detailed Description : No Eunhee’s artworks offer the viewers a chance to discover the ‘light’ that carries consolation and hope. The artist works primarily with Korean traditional methods including Korean ink and nacre. Depth is created by extensive overlap of fine brushstrokes and pieces of nacre embody subdued light. Her work articulates a silver lining through threadlike lines and micro fragments. Exploring the ‘light’ is integral to her oeuvre. The illumination of the nacre is displayed in varying manners - scattered and piled in the dimness. The gradual transition of the visual language yields the accumulation of hope and desire over time.
