BiographyHunt Slonem (born Hunt Slonim, July 18, 1951) is an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker inspired by nature . He is best known for his Neo-Expressionist paintings including series of bunnies, butterflies and tropical birds. This series are strongly inspired by a large number of bird species (more than 100) he keeps in an aviary located in his workshop. He is also known for his large-scale sculptures and restorations of historic buildings.
Slonem's works are in many important collections of 250 museums around the world, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
He exhibits regularly at both public and private venues. He received numerous distinction and awards.
