Roberto Ferri

Biography
Roberto Ferri was born in Taranto in 1978.In 1996 he graduated from the "Lisippo" art high school in Taranto. He began studying painting on his own and, after moving to Rome in 1999, he embarked upon an in-depth analysis of antique painting, ranging from the early Sixteenth Century to the late
Nineteenth Century. In particuliar, he began dedicating himself to the art of Caravaggio and the academy (Jaques-Louis David, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Anne-Louis Girodet, Jean–Louis Theodoe Gericault, Charles Gleyre, William-Adolfe Bouguereau etc.). In 2006 he gained his degree, with first class honours, from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, in Stage Design.
He collaborates with the Square Gallery, the Fine Art department of Liquid Art System since 2009.
He also took part in the Omaggio a Luigi Montanarini ( Tribute to Luigi Montanarini) exhibition at the Galleria Vittoria on Via Margutta, in Rome. In 2007, he held an exhibition in Viterbo, at the Palazzo dei Priori, for the “Tuscia Opera Festival” as well as a solo show of his drawings, curated by Robertomaria Siena at the Galleria RDF in Rome. In New York, he tooks part in the Flesh and Passion group exhibition, at the CFM Gallery, and, for the Duomo di Montepulciano, in the province of Siena, he executed the painting San Giovanni Decollato ( Decapited Saint John).
At the Galleria Vittoria on Via Margutta, in Rome, he partecipated in the A piu’ voci group event, curated by Robertomaria Siena. His works are included in prestigious private collections in Rome, Milan, London, Paris, New York, Madrid, Barcelona, Miami, San Antonio (Texas), Qatar, Dublin, Boston, Malta and the Castle of Menerbes in Provence.

In 2002, he held his first exhibition, the group show Animali e Dei, at la Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome In 2003, his first solo exhibition, Roberto Ferri e il sogno di Parnaso ( Roberto Ferri and the dream of Parnasus), at the Centro d’ Arte Contemporanea "Luigi Montanarini" at Genzano di Roma. This exhibition travelled to the Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome, and was curated by the art critic and historian Robertomaria Siena. In the same year, the exhibition, Angeli, Demoni, Miracoli e Arconti ( Angels, Demons and Archons) was organized by the Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome.
Ferri’s Works were on display at the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro in Rome, and he partecipated in the Theleton campain. The drawning L’ Angelo sterminatore ( Angel exterminator) was published in the newspaper Italia sera to illustrate a story by the art critic and historian Robertomaria Siena. In july at Sora, he won the second edition of the “Antonio Valente” Stage Design Award; he also held another solo exhibition. He took part in the first edition of Rome’s “Notte bianca”, exhibiting his work at the Accademy of Fine Arts. In 2004, at the Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome, he heldanother solo exhibition, curated by Robertomaria Siena and entitled Roberto Ferri e la Luce del corpo (Roberto Ferri and the Light of the body). He also partecipated in the second edition of th “Notte bianca” displaying his work at the Accademy of Fine Arts and took part in another Telethon campain, with his art on display at the main offices of BNL, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, on Via del Corso in Rome. In December 2005, his first exhibition of drawnings was inaugurated at the Galleria LoGu’s Arte in Rome.
In June 2006, his solo exhibition at the Galleria Il Cortile in Rome, on Via della Scrofa, was opened. He took part in “Arteinterrazza” event, held at the Accademy of Fine Arts in Rome and in at the art high school on Via Ripetta, with a debate on the canons of his painting. The same year he partecipated in the 7th edition of “ ImmaginaArte in Fiera” in Reggio Emilia. He executed paitings for the beatification of the Genoese Saint Ettore Vernazza, currently located at the Convento delle Suore Figlie di San Giuseppe, in Genoa. His work, Il Traghettatore (The Ferryman), was pubblished in the book Inattuali furori, by Robertomaria Siena. An exhibition fo his drawnings was installed in the United States, at San Antonio in Texas, at AnArte Gallery. A few of his works were also shown in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, for the “Toscana Festival” presentation.
