Ce Jian

Born in Shandong Province, China, Ce Jian immigrated to Germany in 1988 when she was four. She graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she studied under Georg Baselitz, Daniel Richter and Robert Lucander and received a Master’s degree respectively from the Department of Art History at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Free University of Berlin. She recently achieved a Doctoral degree in arts and visual arts at Humboldt University of Berlin upon receiving a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and published the thesis Zur Rolle technischer Bildverfahren in den Porträts von Chuck Close>. Ce Jian lives and works mainly between Berlin and Beijing.

Ce Jian has participated in exhibitions including: “KunstRaum Berlin (German Embassy in Beijing, 2019)”; “Armada (White Space Beijing, Beijing, 2018)”; “on paper 2 (Soloprojekt) (Zapbeijing / 798, Beijing, 2018); “Bannermen (GALLERY SU:, Seoul, 2018)”; “CAPTCHA”, Philine Cremer Gallery, Dusseldorf, Germany (2017) and many others. In 2017, she was awarded with Huayu Young Artist Award and her works are part of collections of Sor Rusche, Hanno Huth, Sishang Art Museum, Frank Yang, Artist Liu Wei among others.
