About the Artist

The color of gold does not always come from metal.

Sometimes it comes from the earth, from wool, and from the hands that know the right moment for each fiber.

In this piece, sheep’s wool is dyed with natural dyes and worked using the Chusi technique, *pelo cortado* (cut pile), reviving an ancestral practice and bringing it into a contemporary expression.

The material retains its character: the fibers, their irregularities, the variations in tone, and the imprint of the hands.

The deep yellow emerges as a territory between earth and gold. It does not seek to reproduce gold, but rather to evoke what holds greater value for Mantara: a heritage that is built, transformed, and preserved.

Mantara works with textile knowledge passed down from generation to generation, alongside communities that keep this craft alive.

This piece is part of that dialogue.

Between the ancestral and the contemporary.
Between material and design.
Between hands and time.

The color of gold is the color of a memory that remains alive.

The painting is not a depiction of a particular coast and more like an emotional landscape—moving between turbulence and calm, fire and water, darkness and light. The vertical divisions reinforce the idea that different realities can coexist while remaining connected by one horizon.
