About the Artist
Lee Youngha employs a lenticular effect on his works by giving an illusion of depth, rendering a moving effect as the image is viewed from different angles. His canvases comprise of two different images superimposed and painted, the dual structure of the canvas enabling the expansion of the plane, the stretching of the image beyond the virtual, and changing the meaning behind the image.
In this way of working, the content contained in the two images momentarily conflicts due to momentary changes in the two images, and the intended meaning of the work can be recognized as an image.
Youngha Lee expressed two heroes who led Argentina to two World Cup wins through the work “Diego Maradona & Lionel Messi.”
